Lebeda Productions to stage Vijay Tendulkar’s play ‘Kamala’ on July 22 –
Bangalore’s first crowdfunded theatre production
Kamala, written by Vijay Tendulkar, the story of a young woman sold in an open market in the 80s in the Dholpur flesh market at the tri-junction of Rajasthan - Uttar Pradesh - Madhya Pradesh and bought by a journalist to expose human trafficking ends up opening the prolonged slavery of women in our society since decades. It is an intriguing story of a woman bought for just Rs 250 to expose slave trade through media. The play talks about not just the illegal practice but also the harsh reality that even the owners of Kamala are slaves both in professional and personal lives.
